Dear Aspiring Professional:
If there were a career you could enter and be making $35,000 to start without a college degree, would you be interested. Your college degree, regardless of what it is, could get you $65,000 to start. And what if you could prepare to take on such a career in JUST THREE WEEKS? If this is true, why are so few people actually doing it?
Look, the economy is in bad shape. Wall Street firms, major banks, brokerage firms, big-name companies are failing every week. People are losing their jobs, they are losing their houses, they are losing their retirement, and they are losing their confidence. You hear horror stories ... everywhere you turn ... from ordinary folks, just like you and me, who are stuck in dead-end jobs but doing nothing about it.
Well, let me ask you a question: do you want the truth about a real career that offers security, pays well, and treats you like the professional you are?
I assume you do. So here it is – straight talk on the reality of making money in a recognized profession ....
The fact is that the economy is irrelevant to one buyer. There is a buyer who buys some of almost everything, and is the ONLY buyer for many goods and services. When the economy is great, they buy. When the economy is down, they buy. And they buy BIG!
Would you like to get paid to spend money?
It’s true. Regardless of the economy, unemployment, or local market conditions, the Federal Government buys. A lot. Every Day. And somebody has to manage those contracts.
Today, there are tens of thousands of people buying for the government and selling to the government. But there are still not enough. The government stopped hiring buyers several years ago. Today it has a procurement workforce where 65% of its members are retirement eligible! Now they are trying to hire, and hire a lot, of buyers. And there are simply not enough people trained to manage their contracts.
What about the companies that sell to the government? They need the same set of skills on their side of the deal. The demand is HUGE! And it can give you a profession with real job security.
But don't take my word for it. Here's an excerpt from an official government report reflecting the amount of money just a few agencies are spending, and the number of contracts involved in that spending. Every one of these contracts had a professionally trained buyer and seller involved in the deal.

If you do the math you will see that there are over 34,000 contracts awarded by the government EVERY SINGLE WORKING DAY OF THE YEAR
But again: if it's such an opportunity, why aren't more people doing it?
The answer is that the elevation of this career to a professional classification is a relatively recent event. And the process is not taught in most schools in the country. There was a time several years ago when the government “froze” the hiring of more civil servants, impacting the ranks of buyers. Many, many people got their initial training as a government employee. The result is that the current demand is very high, the supply of qualified people to fill the jobs is very low, and now - the training to prepare you for this great career is being taught right here.
The government contracting process is considered very complex – but only by those who don’t understand it. Hey, putting men on the moon was complex – but it was all accomplished through effective government contracting.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people don’t stop to think about how the government, including state and local governments, buy what they need. And what do they need? EVERYTHING!
The government buys some things that only the government can buy – like rockets, fighter airplanes, battleships, and bombs. But it also buys everything that other businesses buy, and they buy a lot of it - from pens and paper to surveying services. By considering a career in government procurement, you set yourself apart from the crowd by developing specialized skills that are in high demand.
Why aren’t more people pursuing this career? The short answer is that unless you already work for a company that does government business, and that is willing to train you internally, there has not been the opportunity to receive the expert training to prepare for the profession. But now there is and you are looking at it!
- The Unemployed
- The Under-employed
- Veterans
- Graduating students
- Business owners who want to learn how to do business with the government
- People stuck in a dead-end job
- Those already working in the field, but not feeling comfortable with their present level of training.
- Folks returning to the workforce
- People who made some bad career choices and now feel stuck

What is the employment market for those who understand government contracting? Within the Denver area, including Littleton, Broomfield, Westminster, Boulder, and even Colorado Springs, there are dozens of companies of all sizes that do government business. There is also the Denver Federal Center, home to more than two dozen Federal agencies that buy things. And let’s not forget about the military bases, Peterson AFB, Fort Carson, the Air Force Academy, and Warren AFB, just to name a few. The Federal Park Service, the Federal Highway Administration, US Geological Survey, the General Services Administration, the Small Business Administration, Federal Courts, and many more are right here in Denver. And if you are not tied to the area, the opportunities go up geometrically across the country and around the world.
According to research conducted by the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) nearly 10% of all jobs in the country in this profession are right here in the mountain states.
Fifty-three percent of the workforce works for government prime contractors; 26% work for the federal government. And contractors offer a double opportunity – they sell to the government under a government contract, and buy from subcontractors under a modified-commercial contract that contains many terms and conditions required by their government customer. Roughly 50% of the money that goes to a prime contractor ends up being spent with a subcontractor. Another 10% of the workforce works for these commercial companies who sell to the primes! What a wealth of opportunity. Perhaps you can see why the demand is so high.
How do I know I’d like this career?
Not everyone is suited to a career in government contracting. It is demanding. It can be complex. There are important deadlines. It is rarely an isolated task – teamwork and leadership are important qualities to foster. But we can say, with complete confidence, that people of all backgrounds and experience have excelled in this profession.
But I’m too old to change careers!
According to research conducted at the Defense Acquisition University, the average starting age for those entering this profession on behalf of the government is 38.9 years old. Many who enter this field are doing so as a second career. Others are returning or retiring vets. Some started their own business and decided that entrepreneurship was too hard.
I don’t have a degree!
While it is true that a college degree enhances your opportunities in any field, 14% of the current workforce in this field has no degree at all. Most major employers, including the federal government, offer tuition reimbursement – allowing you to pursue your degree AFTER they higher you and start paying you a salary.
Nice salary numbers, but what can I really make?
According to that same NCMA survey only 18% of the workforce makes LESS THAN $60,000 per year. Thirty four percent make OVER $100,000. And these numbers do not include bonuses and other employee benefits available with most employers. Ninety seven percent offer vacation, 92% offer healthcare, 88% offer life insurance, 88% offer a 401(k) opportunity, 83% offer dental benefits, and72% offer vision. Fully 71% of the companies that employ government contracting professionals offer tuition assistance.

And just to show you how beneficial it can be living near Denver, the median salary of government contracting professionals in Boulder, CO is $95,000. Not too shabby.
So it is real. The jobs are there, the work is steady, and the pay and benefits are outstanding. Why wouldn’t you want to pursue such an opportunity?
Do you worry about losing your job, your income, your lifestyle?
Government contractors sell to the government every day. The government buys every day. What will the market be in 15, 20 or 30 years? While no one has an infallible crystal ball, government purchasing has gone up EVERY YEAR. It has gone up by a LOT since 9/11. Regardless of the political party in charge of the agencies or the legislature, the government will be buying and government contractors will be selling. When the economy gets very bad (are we there yet?) it is the government that pumps more money into the economy – much of it through contracts and grants.
Make the mistake of not pursuing this opportunity and you could spend many years regretting it. Don’t make the same bad choices again – get into a secure profession you can be proud of.
Capture this opportunity. By following the advice and training we give you, and you can be earning a five or six-figure income faster than you can say to your current boss "Take this job and shove it!"
The recovery money being pumped into the economy right now has essentially doubled the government’s annual procurement budget.
