Charles J. Moschel Jr., CPA
Charles Moschel, a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Colorado and New York, has been associated with CCS since its inception in 2002, having first met Tom Reid as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a Denver government contractor. Since then, Mr. Moschel has provided financial and accounting services to CCS and its clients. His specialized areas include advisory on CFO and Controllership issues that incorporate accounting matters, accounting structure and treatment; ERP System review, selection, setup and installation; proposal and cost development; audit issues, claims development and general business matters for clients.
Charles Moschel has over 30 years of experience and a proven record in finance and accounting for commercial companies and government contractors. He has served as CFO, Controller, General Manager and Audit Manager for medical equipment, aerospace, IT, and professional service companies ranging from $7M to several billion. For CCS, he has provided financial system assessments, accounting support, Best Practices review, policy and procedure review and development, virtual CFO/Controller services, DCAA audit support, and general business consultative services.
After starting his career in the New York/New Jersey area working his way up from Auditor to Audit Manager, Mr. Moschel joined Siemens Corporation in the Audit Group. He was offered the opportunity to transfer to Colorado to become the General Operations Manager for Siemens Medical Systems, Electro-Medical Division where he spent the remainder of his 10 years of service. He remained in Colorado while the operation he led was relocated to the Boston area. Mr. Moschel returned to the financial side of the house as the Controller for several commercial entities before he was recruited to SSDS Inc. to lead their governmental contracting organization that provided technical IT services to a number of governmental agencies. Here is where he was first introduced to the complexities of governmental accounting and systems while implementing one of the first installations of Deltek’s Costpoint product.
With these added skill sets, Mr. Moschel was recruited by a former peer to assist with expanding the Federal Business unit of Productive Data Systems Inc. Shortly after his arrival, he was promoted to the role of Director of Finance, Accounting and IT where he oversaw the accounting, finance, human resources, payroll, facilities and IT functions. His path moved him to a role as VP and CFO for Gonzales Consulting Services, Inc. where he led the internal accounting and human resources, and was also tasked to provide business development for the Financial Services Group. This group provided Public Accounting (CPA) services to clients that included the City and County of Denver, and YellowBook Audits to the United States Postal Service in conjunction with the OIG.
It was during this portion of his career that he was introduced to Mr. Reid where they started collaborating on the creation of CCS. While working with CCS, Mr. Moschel was hired as Controller at Cytrx Inc. a publically traded bio-pharmaceutical company headquartered in Los Angeles. While in California, he met with the President of SpaceDev, a publically traded aerospace firm headquartered near San Diego when they discussed the need for Sarbanes Oxley internal controls at SpaceDev. As a result of this meeting, he was hired as the Director of Corporate Finance and Accounting, and acted as the Controller for SpaceDev’s largest manufacturing facility located in Louisville, CO as well as the trustee for the company 401(k) plan. After assisting with the acquisition of SpaceDev Inc. by Sierra Nevada, Mr. Moschel was hired in the role of CFO for Managed Business Solutions and MBS Systems LLC, where he oversaw the finance and accounting areas, human resources, IT and sales and administration. This Alaskan Native Corporation subsidiary provided professional services and software design to governmental agencies and commercial entities.
During 2013, he continued conversations with Mr. Reid and with his return to CCS, they agreed to embark on the reinstatement of the consultative finance and accounting services to the menu offered by CCS.
